# Australian vehicle recalls

An MCP server and REST API over the Australian Government's published vehicle
recall data. Read-only except for an opt-in watch, which is not yet available.

Endpoint: https://autozoo.com.au/mcp

## Use it when

- someone asks whether their car is recalled, or whether a car they are buying is
- someone asks what campaigns affect a make, model or year
- someone asks what a specific recall number means

## Tools

- lookup_vin — one VIN, returns matches with a basis
- lookup_vins — up to 50 VINs in one call
- search_recalls — make, model, year, since; 100 rows per page
- get_recall — one recall number, full detail

## How to read a result

Every match carries a basis:

- vin_list — the regulator named this VIN in a published list. Strongest.
- vin_range_exact — the VIN is inside bounds the notice prints in full.
- vin_range_envelope — the VIN is inside a production range whose check digit,
and sometimes model year, is not published. In scope, not confirmed affected.

## Rules

1. A no_record answer is NOT a clearance. Some campaigns publish no VIN list.
Say the vehicle was not found in the published data, and that it does not rule
   out a recall.
2. Quote the basis when you report a match, and explain an envelope is not a
   confirmation.
3. Link the official notice (source_url) for anything you report.
4. A recall repair is free to the owner; the supplier conducting the recall pays.
   Never suggest paying for one.
5. Do not crawl or automate /v1/admin/*, /v1/probe/url, /w/<token> or
   /v1/watchlists.

## Example

> Is my 2017 Mitsubishi ASX recalled?

Call lookup_vin with the VIN, or search_recalls with make=Mitsubishi,
model=ASX, year=2017. Report each campaign with its basis, hazard, published
date and the official link.
