BMW are writing to all consumers directly, plus the selling dealers are also following up their customers.
Defect
Front-wheel quick-release axles that are not in compliance with design specifications might be installed in some motorcycles. Due to irregularities in the manufacturing process, in isolated cases the quick-release axle might be of reduced wall thickness. Under these circumstances there is a possibility of severe loads on the front wheel (off-roading, for example) causing damage to the quick-release axle. Under worst-case conditions the quick release axle could break.
