Recall check / REC-001042

MITSUBISHI ASX, LANCER & OUTLANDER (2008–2013)

Published

What the hazard is

If the drive belt falls off, the engine warning light will illuminate, a loss of power steering assistance will occur, the battery will discharge and the engine may overheat and stall. This could increase the risk of an accident and injury to a vehicle occupant or other road users. In the event of a serious accident this may result in death.

What to do

Mitsubishi Motors Australia will contact all known owners by mail and advise them to present their vehicle to their preferred dealer for an inspection, and if required replacement of the affected part. Consumers who require further information can contact Mitsubishi Motors Australia on 1800 931 811 or their preferred Dealer on 1300 131 211 or by web search at https://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au/customer-assistance/locate-a-service-centre#

Defect

The engine auto tensioner flange may crack under high load driving conditions, which may cause the drive-belt to fall off.
