HYUNDAI KONA, VELOSTER (2018–2019)

Published

What the hazard is

A damaged engine may result in the vehicle staling and/or engine oil leaking, increasing the risk of an accident and/or vehicle fire causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users or damage property.

What to do

Owners will be contacted by Hyundai Motor Company Australia and asked to contact an authorised Hyundai dealer to arrange a suitable time to have the vehicle repaired, free of charge. Until the inspection and repair are carried out, consumers of affected vehicles are advised to pay attention to any abnormal knocking noise from the engine. If such noise is heard, consumers are advised not to drive the vehicle and contact their nearest Hyundai dealer for inspection or repair.

Defect

The piston rings assembled in engines may be defective, which can cause damage to the piston rings and cylinder bore.
