BMW MINI and Alpina X models (2022–2024)

Published

What the hazard is

The vehicle remains controllable; however, a higher pedal force may be required for braking and in certain conditions, braking distance may be extended. A reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident resulting in injury to the vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and other road users.

What to do

Note: This recall supersedes REC-005906. Owners of affected vehicles will receive written communication from BMW Australia. If a warning message is displayed on the central display, drivers should follow the instructions provided and promptly contact their nearest BMW Dealer. BMW request owners action any Remote Software Update if they receive a request on their vehicle's central display

Defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, signal interference may occur within the electronics of the brake system. If the fault occurs, a higher pedal force may be required for braking. The anti-lock braking system and dynamic stability control will also not be available. Note: Drivers will be alerted by the brake warning light in the instrument cluster and a message will appear on the central display.
