What the hazard is

A loss of motive power whilst driving and/or the vehicle’s movement whilst in the park position could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants, bystanders and other road users.

What to do

Owners of affected vehicles should contact their respective dealers to schedule an appointment to have the vehicle inspected and the rectification carried out, free of charge.

Defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, the rear wheel hub bolts may become loose or break causing damage to the wheel axle and axle hub splines over time. This could result in the vehicle moving whilst engaged in park position or a loss of motive power. Note: A broken wheel hub bolt will not result in wheel separation.
