What the hazard is
A loss of motive power whilst driving increases the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
What to do
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted and are asked to arrange an appointment with the compliance workshop or nominated repair facility. The low-pressure fuel pump will be replaced, free of charge.
Defect
Due to a manufacturing defect, the low-pressure fuel pump may not operate as intended and could result in the check engine and master warning indicators to illuminate on the combination meter. If this occurs, it could impair the fuel supply to the engine leading to a loss of motive power whilst driving and inability to start the engine.
